Development of the GUT faecal microbiome in infants with chronic airway disease

Dr Bettina Schock of Queen’s University Belfast was allocated £56,078 to examine how gut bacteria and the immune system develop in infants with chronic lung disease, including cystic fibrosis (CF). The bacterial community of the gut of babies and infants is different from that in adults, but usually stabilises by the age of 12 months.
