Pregnancy is such an amazing time especially for new moms. This is the time to get the nursery ready, picking out names, and buying baby clothes. But this is also the time to be eating the best possible foods you can eat for your health and babies health. It’s important to eat enough protein, folic acid, healthy fats, carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables. These are the Top Best Foods to eat while your pregnant. So eat up mama!

1. Lentils & Other Legumes
Lentils and other legumes are great superfoods to eat while pregnant. Legumes including lentils, peas, beans, chickpeas, soybeans and nuts are all great sources of fiber, protein, nonheme iron, folate and calcium. One cup of lentils contains the RDI’s (recommended daily intake) of about 400 mcg of folic acid. Pregnant women should be consuming 400–800 mcg of folic acid daily to prevent against certain birth defects such as spina bifida. See the power in the foods you eat!

2. Sweet potato
Sweet potatoes are jam packed with complex carbohydrates, vitamin C, vitamin A, iron, beta-carotene, and fiber. These will keep you full while filling your body with amazing vitamins your body needs while creating life.

3. Eggs
Some of you may be wondering if eggs are healthy or harmful to eat while pregnant. The answer is HEALTHY (when cooked all the way, of course)! Eggs not only contain lots of high quality protein but the egg yolks are full of healthy cholesterol and omega-3 fatty acids, this is important for your baby’s developing brain.

4. Go Nuts!
Almonds, walnuts, peanuts, pine nuts and hazelnuts are all highly recommended for pregnant women. They contain the best healthy unsaturated fatty acids, riboflavin, iron, folate, magnesium, protein and vitamin E. They are an excellent snack to keep nearby.

5. Yogurt
Yogurt is a great source of protein, calcium and probiotics. Protein we know is important for building up muscle while pregnant for yourself and baby! Yogurt contains more calcium then milk and the probiotics and cultures in yogurt help with your gut bacteria and can prevent yeast infections that are more common in pregnant women.
